more about

the conversations

The Greater Kingston Community Conversations were first formally organized five years ago. Except for 2021 when the pandemic got in the way, the Conversations have been an annual event and previous discussions have sparked tangible and on-going efforts such as the monthly Community Meal, the Kingston Cast, Kingston’s Affordable Housing Work Group, Kingston/North Kitsap Prepares and more.

This year, the Conversations return to an in-person format in which participants begin the day by selecting issues of greatest interest to become discussion topics in facilitated small groups. Discussion topics have included Transportation, Youth & Schools, Equity & Inclusion, Communications, Growth & Growing Pains, Emergency Preparedness, Trails and Parks, etc. Scribes take notes as ideas are brainstormed and action items are identified. Following the event, organizers compile the notes for presentation to community groups. See last year’s report by clicking the link at left.
